The Foundry at Colorado State University
Capturing the Heart of Campus
Inspired by the food halls of the 1900s located in old industrial spaces (like Chelsea Market in New York) Corbett-Parmelee was reimagined into a new dining center, The Foundry, combining Corbett and Parmelee Dining Facilities into a single location with eight micro-restaurants.
The design centered around providing a modern gathering space with a variety of venues while honoring the university’s roots as an agricultural school through the food options and the ties to nature.
As visitors enter the building, they are greeted by the student services reception area and main lounge. Furnished with contemporary seating and accented with bright colors, this space brings nature into the lobby as the materials mirror the mountains surrounding CSU.
The project achieved LEED Gold status.

1870
1870, the founding year of CSU, authentically captures Colorado State. Features of reclaimed bowling alley wood and a historic map of Fort Collins greet students as the micro-restaurant serves their favorite comfort foods. With the 1870 logo branded onto the recycled wood, it's hard for students to forget their roots.
Sustainability
The vertical landscape wall and natural materials create a tranquil environment for students to study or catch up with friends.
A few earth-friendly aspects included in the LEED Gold project are indoor water use reduction, optimal energy performance, renewable energy production, green power and carbon offsets, storage, and collection of recyclables, construction and demolition of waste management planning, interior LED dimming lights, and innovation.
