At Ikenberry Commons, students have access to the full college experience, barrier-free. Nugent Residence Hall at the University of Illinois goes beyond basic ADA requirements to prioritize accessibility for every student. Recognizing the formative nature of the college experience, Nugent Hall was designed to eliminate challenges faced in college by students with disabilities. Thoughtful architecture and strategic solutions ensure that every student can engage in independent living and decision-making.

Living on campus is integral to community building. Our architects applied design principles that enable students with severe disabilities to confidently live on campus while managing their own needs. With physical accessibility features that exceed federal regulations, Nugent Hall guarantees that every student can actively participate in a thriving campus community.

Our design team took a comprehensive approach, incorporating lift systems and ample space in student rooms. The design includes adjoining baths for students with severe disabilities such as hearing, sight, and mobility impairments. A wheelchair-accessible classroom and teaching kitchen further emphasizes the school's commitment to supporting student independence and success.

The 101,000 square foot building, achieving LEED Gold certification, represents thoughtful design, removes barriers and limitations, and meets functional limitations of people with disabilities.
